Focus Soundscapes

Play background music or ambient sounds during Execute Mode to enhance focus and block out distractions.

Overview​

Focus Soundscapes provide:

  • 🎵 Curated focus music tracks
  • 🌊 Ambient soundscapes
  • 🔊 Volume control
  • 🎧 Background playback
  • 🔁 Continuous loop

Benefits:

  • Block distracting environmental noise
  • Create consistent work environment
  • Trigger focus state (conditioning)
  • Reduce anxiety about silence
  • Mask interruptions

Focus Music Categories​

Lo-fi Beats:

  • Chill, non-distracting instrumentals
  • No lyrics to pull attention
  • Steady tempo for sustained focus

Ambient Soundscapes:

  • Rain sounds
  • Ocean waves
  • Forest ambience
  • Café background noise
  • White/brown/pink noise

Classical:

  • Baroque music (productivity classic)
  • Piano compositions
  • String quartets

Electronic:

  • Downtempo beats
  • Ambient electronica
  • Synthwave (low-intensity)

Enabling Music​

In Execute Mode:

  1. Click Music button on top right
  2. Select soundscape from list
  3. Adjust volume (0-100%)
  4. Music starts playing automatically
  5. Save changes

Controls:

  • Play/Pause button in settings
  • Volume slider
  • Track selection dropdown
  • Stop completely (select "None")

Playback​

Music plays:

  • Continuously while Execute Mode active
  • Loops seamlessly (no silence between)
  • In background (hidden player)
  • Across step transitions

Music stops when:

  • You exit Execute Mode
  • You select "None" track
  • You pause manually
  • You complete task

Volume​

Adjustment:

  • Slider from 0-100%
  • Real-time feedback
  • Persists across sessions

Recommended:

  • Start at 30-40%
  • Adjust based on environment noise
  • Quieter for deep analytical work
  • Louder for routine execution

Mobile Music Playback​

Behavior:

  • Music continues when app in background (PWA)
  • Uses device media controls
  • Battery impact (streams audio)
  • Data usage (WiFi recommended)

Limitations:

  • Some mobile browsers limit background audio
  • PWA install recommended for reliability
  • Lock screen controls may not work

Does music use a lot of data?​

Audio streaming: ~1-2 MB/min (60-120 MB/hour). Use WiFi for long sessions to avoid mobile data charges.

Can I use my own music?​

Not currently. Must use provided soundscapes. Custom upload coming in future update.

Does music stop when minimizing Execute Mode?​

No. Music continues in background. Stops only when exiting Execute Mode.

Can I use with my own Spotify/Apple Music?​

Yes, externally. Play Spotify separately, use HealUp without Focus Music enabled. But can't control from HealUp.

Will music work offline?​

No. Streams from YouTube, requires internet connection.

What if music doesn't load?​

Check internet connection. Try different track. Report persistent issues to support.
