Execute Mode Workflow
Complete guide to the Execute Mode workflow from task creation to completion.
1. Create Task
Input task:
- Type overwhelming task in input field
- Add notes if needed (click notes icon)
- Optionally enable web research or add reference URLs
- Choose detail level (default: Level 2)
- Press Enter
AI generates:
- 4-8 action steps
- Time estimates per step
- Complete breakdown in task card
2. Enter Execute Mode
Click task card to open Execute Mode.
Full-screen interface shows:
- Current step (step 1)
- Step description
- Time estimate
- Timer (optional, click play to start)
- Complete button
Everything else hidden:
- No other tasks
- No sidebar
- No navigation
- Singular focus
3. Execute Current Step
Read step description - Understand the exact action
Start timer (optional) - Click play (▶️)
Do the action - Actually perform the work
Complete when done - Click "Complete This Step"
Celebrate - Quick animation, progress updates
4. Next Step Auto-Appears
Automatic progression:
- Step 2 appears immediately
- New timer with step 2's estimate
- Same focused interface
- Repeat process
Continue through all steps until task complete.
5. Task Completion
After final step:
- Completion celebration
- Task summary (X steps in Y minutes)
- Task marked complete
- Automatically archives
- Returns to dashboard
Quick Task (2-3 steps)
- Create task
- Enter Execute Mode
- Complete 2-3 steps quickly (10-20 min total)
- Exit
Best for: Urgent small tasks, quick wins
Standard Task (4-8 steps)
- Create task
- Enter Execute Mode
- Work through 4-8 steps (30-90 min)
- Take break if needed (minimize or exit)
- Resume and complete
Best for: Most tasks, balanced duration
Multi-Session Task
- Create task
- Enter Execute Mode
- Complete 2-3 steps (30 min)
- Exit Execute Mode (save progress)
- Return later
- Resume from step 4
- Complete remaining steps
Best for: Large tasks spanning multiple work sessions
Keyboard Shortcuts
In Execute Mode:
- Space - Complete current step
- Esc - Exit Execute Mode
- Cmd/Ctrl + M - Minimize to floating widget
- S - Open settings
- T - Play/pause timer (if enabled)
Efficiency:
- Hands on keyboard throughout
- No mouse needed for basic flow
- Faster execution rhythm
Pausing
Press Esc or click X to exit Execute Mode anytime.
Progress auto-saves:
- Current step position
- Completed steps
- Time spent (if tracked)
- All notes and changes
No data loss - safe to pause whenever needed.
Resuming
From Dashboard:
- Click same task card
- Opens to exact step you left off
- Timer resets to step estimate
- Continue where you stopped
Why pause:
- Meeting interruption
- Need longer break
- End of work day
- Hit mental block
Pause without guilt - flexible execution > forced completion.
Editing Steps
During execution:
- Click step description to edit
- Modify text or time estimate
- Changes save automatically
- Continue executing
Use when:
- Step description unclear
- Time estimate way off
- Step doesn't apply to your situation
Skipping Steps
If step doesn't apply:
- Click skip or delete icon
- Step marked skipped
- Automatically advance to next
- Progress updates
Common reasons:
- Step already done
- Doesn't match your situation
- Prerequisites changed
Skipping is normal - flexibility > rigid adherence.
Adding Steps
Mid-task realization:
- Open settings
- Add new step at current position
- Return to execution
- Complete new step in sequence
Use when:
- Discovered missing action
- Need sub-step breakdown
- Task more complex than expected
Sustained Focus (60-120 min)
Pattern:
- Enter Execute Mode
- Enable timer
- Enable break reminders (25 min intervals)
- Work through 4-6 steps continuously
- Take breaks when reminded
- Complete task in one session
Best for:

Sprint Sessions (20-30 min)
